Overview

The Director of Finance is responsible for managing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems.  Responsibilities include the oversight and management of billing for inpatient and outpatient services, accounts receivable and collections and reporting.  The Director of Finance supervises the team of direct reports whose positions cover inpatient billing, outpatient billing, insurance verifications, A/P, and credentialing.

Responsibilities

General Financial:

  1. Provide financial data to support operations strategy.
  2. Establish and maintain accounting practices in conjunction with Avamere to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for business operations including Accounts Receivable, Collections and General Ledger
  3. Serve as primary liaison to Avamere accounting department and controller establishing a cooperative relationship and providing data as requested
  4. Understand account reconciliations.
  5. Analyze, verify and post transactions to journals, ledgers, and other records.  Investigate and correct accounting entries as needed.
  6. Coordinate procedures related to inpatient and outpatient billing assuring efficient and accurate processes.
  7. Assure Monthly Inpatient Billing File transfer
  8. Ensures legal and regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports.

Accounts Receivable:

  1. Oversee the process and preparation of weekly and monthly invoices and statements for all Rehab Services
  2. Set up new accounts in appropriate software.
  3. Change rates and pricing in various software per contract agreements.
  4. Conduct and oversee collections process negotiating with past due accounts as necessary. 

Reporting

  1. Review 30, 60, 90 day collection reports with President and operations managers.  Establishes payment plans meeting the needs of the company’s  strategic plans
  2. Prepare necessary reports related to budget, billing, collections and accounts receivable. 
  3. Provide financial condition of the company by collecting, interpreting and reporting key financial data to the leadership team.
  4. Ensure timely financial and statistical reports for management use.
  5. Design and reproduce miscellaneous spreadsheets, reports and forms.

General Office:

  1. Hire, train and develop all billing personnel.  Provide supervision using Exemplary Leadership Practices.
  2. Provide superior customer service and problem solving

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
 

  • 4 year business related degree preferred with 7 years relevant and progressive experience.  CPA preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of bookkeeping/accounting procedures
  • Ability to plan, direct and coordinate A/R activities.
  • Ability to lead and direct the work of others and work successfully as part of a team
  • Superior detail orientation and accuracy
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in completing assignments
  • Proficient skill in using PC financial management software (Quickbooks, Excel, etc.), Word, and Windows
  • Excellent verbal communications skills for quality interactions with clients
